paper The Landscape Holds Its Breath ( Solo Exhibition) | Headstone Gallery, October 4-October 26, 2025.

Claudia Shaldervan’s first solo show in the United States features 13 vibrant acrylic-on-canvas paintings that position nature as a narrative agent. Various life cycles and moments of dramatic transformation are magnified and infused with folkloric surrealism.

An early exposure to Eastern European folklore, in which nature is bewitched or animated, drew me to explore the interplay where folklore and ecology blur—where a tree is both habitat and omen, where a shell holds the memory of the world. I see nature as a narrative agent and explore its nurturing and unforgiving features.
