Ongoing freelance and consulting practice - served 80+ clients primarily across NFP, charity, education, government, corporate, and tech. Mentored creatives in both craft and business operations, and delivered training and advisory to tech CEOs. Developed SOPs and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce error, alongside client-facing frameworks and pricing models. Workflows include practical AI integration where it adds value rather than as a replacement for creative thinking. Notable contract: 1000 Heads, Sydney (Aug - Dec 2025) - delivered multi-lingual Figma creative for GitLab International. Notable clients include: Hume Community Housing - multi-year contract where I produced a full brand identity system which extended into office branding, signage and wayfinding, web creative and annual reports. The first annual report I produced for them received positive feedback through to federal government level, cited by a federal member of parliament as one of the clearest, best-presented reports he had seen. University of Sydney (Indigenous Health Department) - directed and produced commemorative projects in print as well as digitally, working directly with Indigenous artists and verifying complex internal data to ensure complete accuracy throughout. Lokahi Foundation - ongoing brand, digital and campaign support for an organisation supporting families escaping domestic violence.

Embedded within an 11-person online department as part of a 3-person web team, leading visual direction on a public-facing pension registration portal - the UK equivalent of superannuation. The project operated outside standard government design guidelines by exception, requiring careful navigation of how much creative licence was appropriate and defensible. Conducted user research and led interface and navigation redesign. Increased user enrolments by several hundred thousand people within 6 months of launch. Acted as defacto copywriter and final editor for web content - no dedicated copy resource existed, and all published copy passed through the web team, and ultimately me, as a final check. Also served as the informal creative resource for the wider floor of around 100 staff across departments.

Led a studio of 30 designers and creatives across advertising, print and brand campaigns. Served as brand guardian for Harley-Davidson Europe, Vodafone UK and Adidas UK - interpreting briefs from Creative Directors, building scamps, and directing designer and artworker output across concurrent campaigns. Contributed copy across multiple accounts when the copy team was under-resourced - writing, rewriting and proofing to brand styleguides. This became an informal but regular part of my output. Co-designed a digital filing and approval system with the studio engineer that streamlined amends and sign-off across 10+ Creative Directors and 30 creatives - drawing on a similar workflow I had built previously at APN Educational Media (further down). Integral to weekly traffic and talent planning - shared responsibility for resourcing decisions including freelancer allocation and project scheduling across the studio.

Led art direction and design across a publication slate of 80+ titles per year - weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly and annual magazines, plus occasional supplements. Managed a small design team that jumped between just me and up to 4 designers depending on workload. I was the primary point of contact for printers (local and international), photographers, delivery, and the web team. Supported the marketing team with all collateral needs. Worked closely with the copy team across hundreds of issues - developing an early interest in copy by suggesting edits, cuts and additions, and learning how good copy and layout inform each other. Designed and implemented a digital approval workflow that reduced average print production time from 5 days down to 3 - increasing annual output from around 50 titles to 80+. This system later informed a similar workflow I directed at Publicis Sapient in London.
