I am Dario Rodighiero, a Milan-born, Dublin-based improviser, pianist, keyboardist and composer. I thrive on improvisation and work across a wide spectrum of genres, contributing hundreds of works for film, TV, games and live performance. My collaborations span ensembles, studios, and indie projects, and I continually explore new sounds and textures to tell stories through music. In 2014 I moved to Dublin to found Miss Phoenix and the Jaffa Cakes, a trio delivering retro swing renditions of modern pop. I freelance as a composer and performer, producing, arranging and session performing for artists, while also scoring films, TV shows and RPGs. Highlights include a Best Original Score nomination at the Hollywood Gold Awards (2020) for The Fair Trade and a Grammy nomination shortlist in 2023 for Lei Attende with Navigavia; I’m currently scoring a second feature by Sau Dachi and continuing work with Inntale on RPG music projects.

paper Suit Hung. Tied Tongue (2024) – Original Score

I composed the original score for Suit Hung. Tied Tongue, a 2024 Irish feature film directed by Sau Dachi. The film is a tense, socially driven drama presented in a mockumentary style, following two brothers whose radicalisation leads to a violent act that sparks national outrage and complex public reaction.

The project required a nuanced and adaptable musical approach to support its shifting narrative tone—balancing intimate, character-driven moments with broader themes of political tension, grief, and societal unrest. The score moves between restrained, atmospheric textures and more intense, dramatic passages, helping to build a persistent sense of unease and emotional weight throughout the film.

A key focus was enhancing the film’s realism and documentary-like aesthetic, using subtle orchestration and evolving motifs to mirror the psychological descent of the characters while maintaining narrative cohesion. The music plays a central role in shaping tension and guiding the audience through the film’s layered perspectives and moral ambiguity.

This work highlights my ability to compose for complex, story-driven cinema, delivering a score that supports both emotional depth and large-scale thematic storytelling within an independent production environment.

paper Not Just a Princess – Main Theme (Animated Series)

I composed the main theme for Not Just a Princess, an animated series inspired by the Irish book project created by Gavin Leonard. The series is set in a vibrant, imaginative world where young princesses take on diverse roles—such as pilots, scientists, and explorers—promoting empowerment, curiosity, and independence.

The main theme was designed to capture the spirit of adventure, positivity, and empowerment at the heart of the project. Musically, it blends a playful, uplifting tone with cinematic orchestration, creating a memorable identity that reflects both the energy of a children’s animation and the emotional core of its message.

A key focus was crafting a theme that feels inspiring and modern while remaining accessible and engaging for younger audiences. The composition supports the show’s mission of breaking traditional gender stereotypes and celebrating creativity, confidence, and possibility.

This project highlights my ability to develop strong thematic material for animated content, balancing storytelling, musical identity, and audience appeal within a meaningful and socially driven narrative.

paper NAVIGAVIA - Fantasy Pirate RPG

I am the composer behind the original music for Navigavia, a cinematic, story-driven fantasy series produced by InnTale. Set in a rich pirate-inspired world of exploration, magic, and adventure, the project required a distinctive musical identity capable of supporting both intimate character moments and large-scale narrative arcs.

My work on Navigavia focuses on crafting immersive, emotionally driven compositions, with a strong emphasis on realistic orchestral writing—particularly for strings—to enhance storytelling and world-building. The score blends cinematic orchestration with thematic development, contributing to the series’ atmosphere and continuity across episodes.

The production demanded close attention to detail to achieve natural, expressive performances through advanced orchestral tools and careful programming, ensuring a lifelike sound throughout. The music plays a central role in shaping the audience’s experience, reinforcing tone, pacing, and emotional impact.

This project highlights my ability to deliver high-quality, narrative-focused music for multimedia productions, combining technical precision with creative storytelling in a fully remote collaboration environment.
