Dave M.

Composer, Producer, & Sound Purveyor

With over 30 years of professional experience and music licensed for network television, Dave Merkel creates soundscapes that bridge the gap between technical precision and emotional resonance. Based near the vast landscapes of Yellowstone National Park, Dave draws inspiration from the “Big Sky” to craft everything from intense action trailers to intimate, reflective themes.

The Craft
From 12 years of classical piano training to a career spanning jazz combos, broadcast production, and remote session work, Dave’s versatility is his hallmark. He specializes in:

Composing & Producing for film, TV, and ads.

High-End Audio Engineering: Mixing, mastering, and audio repair.

Remote Tracking: Piano and keyboard layers for artists worldwide.

The Philosophy
Dave believes music is the common language of the universe—a force that unifies and moves individuals beyond themselves. While classically trained, he is a “rule-breaker” at heart, blending orchestral, electronic, and hybrid elements to create sounds that feel both cutting-edge and strangely familiar.

Let’s Collaborate
Whether you’re a filmmaker looking for a unique score or a songwriter needing a professional master, Dave brings empathy, curiosity, and 30+ years of expertise to every project.
