Hi, I am Dixie-Leigh, but most people just call me Dixie. I am a Marketing student at the University of Otago with a minor in Management, a Māori Entrance Scholarship under my belt, and a genuine obsession with doing things properly and doing them well. I grew up in Gore, Southland; think rolling farmland, tight knit community and a family that has never been afraid of hard work. That upbringing shaped everything about how I approach life. I started working seasonally as a Handpiece Operator at our family crutching business at age fifteen, and have not really stopped since. Most people my age are adding café shifts to their CV. I have spent my university holidays inside a red meat processing facility reviewing slaughter and dressing procedures, drafting standard operating procedures, writing task descriptions for operator positions and cross referencing food safety documentation against international export market requirements including the United States. Not your average summer job but that is kind of my thing. I thrive in environments where attention to detail actually matters, where showing initiative is noticed and where the work you do has real consequences. Whether that is on a production chain, in a compliance role or on a rugby field, I show up, I ask the right questions and I get it done. Outside of work and study I am a rugby player, a referee, love the gym and I am a content creator for Dunedin Rugby Football Club, because apparently one thing at a time has never really been my style. If you are looking for someone who is ambitious, adaptable and not afraid to roll their sleeves up, that is me!
