Enthusiastic producer and researcher. Experience in podcasting, magazine journalism, radio hosting and programming with a bachelor’s degree in history. Pursuing audio and video production and the research of culture and entertainment. Chronic comedy, music, and film fan.
At the University Edinburgh I joined the student radio station, Freshair, as a freshman and was elected its committee’s Head of News in my second year and Programming Manager in my third and fourth. As the latter, I created semester schedules, monitored the station’s content quality, and was the point of contact for hosts and show applicants. As the former I helmed a weekly global news show, contributing my own articles, interviewing local artists, activists, and academics, and supervising a team of six correspondents.
In fall of 2023 I was hired at Sun Radio as the network’s Administrative Broadcast Assistant. My responsibilities encompassed production, administrative, on air, and sales spheres. I assisted in the development and creation of promotions, campaigns, and content as well as being an assistant to the CEO, Program Director, and Operations Director. I was also a jock on Saturday nights, aided in recording, editing, and mixing three specialty shows and commercials, and ensured station content adhered to regulation.
Most recently, in spring of 2024 I was the candidate chosen as the first ever audio fellow at Texas Monthly magazine. Part of the work was audio forward - recording, assembling, and engineering show episodes and ads as well as repairing archival footage and revising older podcasts. But just as much of the job was based in written and investigative activities. I collected background information and curated questions for interview podcasts and was involved in research, script editing, and production development for narrative podcasts.
A big aspect of the role was also in taking a lead on producing pieces for a new, subscriber-only podcast feed, TM Out Loud. I found print stories being published in the magazine that could be translatable and made newly engaging through audio. Subsequently, I converted those stories into scripts, go out for on-site recording, and assemble and engineer first edits of the episodes.
I’ve mainly been involved in radio/podcasting and general audio production but I was also a history major so anything to do with research and analysis is in my wheelhouse. And to round it out I’ve been in a lot of planning/organizational, assistant type roles so have that in my toolbox as well.
