I am a 26 year-old Portland-based creative, looking for my next big adventure! I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest most of my life, and it has deeply influenced and nurtured my passion for making art at every opportunity I can. I love challenging myself with new mediums, both traditional and digital, and am always eager to learn from others and expand my own toolkit as a creative! I am coming off of three years of production at acclaimed stop-motion animation studio, LAIKA. I came into the studio as a junior puppet painter, having quite literally never painted on silicone in my entire life, and learned quickly to adapt to the studio and my team, and all the unique techniques needed for the job. This adaptability saw me promoted from a junior within 6 months, and staying through the entire puppet paint production process on LAIKA’s upcoming film, Wildwood, leaving when my work was done due to the studio’s roll-off system between productions. Due to the ever-changing needs of a film studio, I’m very used to needing to change or develop new techniques and stylistic practices to meet the needs of a film. I spent a fair amount of time in LAIKA’s Puppet Hospital as well, where I was able to learn about puppet fabrication and maintenance even beyond the scope of paint work. I’m more than comfortable with the time pressures and gentle hand needed to perform on-set repairs and touch-ups, and am always happy to take on a new challenge that can help me further develop my skills as a puppet painter. I’m comfortable both with these more traditional art skills, as well as digital, as working closely with character artists and our rapid-prototyping team was essential, with a deeper understanding of their process enhancing our teams’ abilities to collaborate.
