Hi, I'm Evan, a screen composer and sound designer specializing in adaptive music, psychoacoustics, and microtonality for interactive media and film. I craft scores that respond to narrative cues, using modular timbres, controlled dissonance, and voice leading to guide emotion. I have studied music history, ethnomusicology, and philosophy at The King's University, with a focus on microtonality and performance. Through projects like Reading The Rainbows and Inmost Projekt, I explore how psychoharmonic theory shapes narratives, and I am currently pursuing a mentorship with the Screen Composers Guild of Canada to deepen my practice and community.

Psychoharmonic Theory & Analysis Research
May 16, 2020 - November 28, 2025
Musicological investigation and development of theory that rationalizes and quantizes musical pathos, and its affect on the listener. Psychoharmonic Analysis seeks to uncover how music affects emotions through the intersection of physics, psychology, and systematic musicology. It is accomplished through the analysis of harmonic ratios which are the building blocks for nearly all musical systems. By understanding these relationships, musicians can systematically evoke emotion through the deliberate manipulation of internal musical mechanisms.
Theory of Pan-harmonicentrism Research
September 22, 2022 - November 28, 2025
Musicological investigation into the universal centrality of harmonics across global and historical musical traditions. This research reveals that while nearly all music is fundamentally grounded in harmonics, many complex musical systems utilize them in ways that are completely foreign to Western music tradition. Exploring this unveils an expansive realm of harmonic potential that sadly remains untouched due to standard practice and technological inconveniences. This potential should be utilized in modern sound design to bring new stories to life.
Dynamic Intonation Research
February 14, 2021 - November 28, 2025
Musicological investigation and development of theoretical framework that expands the current understanding of music to encapsulate an infinitely expansive harmonic palette. This approach enables the creation of dynamically tuned music, composed purely with harmonic relationships rather than fixed scale intervals. This results in music that is more resonant, expressive and nuanced. It can characterize emotions and concepts that listeners have previously not had the privilege of experiencing through music. This music was not historically possible until recent technological developments.
