Off Grid was founded by friends Kim Farrall and Sally Evans, who joined forces after working together at a Manchester based digital agency. They discovered a shared desire to produce design with a social conscience and decided to put their combined twelve years of design experience to good use. Off Grid wants to work with people who aren’t scared to look at things differently, that want to make a difference and are willing to go a (little) Off Grid. It is Sally and Kim’s belief that opening themselves up to experiencing the world around them can drive their creativity to new, more exciting levels. They have cultivated a nomadic approach to their process, taking themselves and their laptops with them to work in new and varied locations. Recognising the value of nature to their own wellbeing, they include breaks throughout the day to get outside. Most of their meeting are held on hilltops, brainstorming sessions in forests and review sessions at the waters edge. Creativity takes on many forms and they express themselves through web design, sketching, photography, print design, swimming, running and illustration. All of these experiences inform their working practise. They are not afraid to experiment or think outside the box and this pushes their design beyond conventional expectations.
