Hi, I’m Gaby Alter, an award-winning songwriter, composer, and producer with many years of experience writing music for film, TV, stage, and other media. I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredible clients like Disney and PBS, and I am proud to have contributed to acclaimed musicals such as NOBODY LOVES YOU (Off Broadway, San Francisco A.C.T.) and BAND GEEKS, which has seen over 90 productions.
I love crafting songs and scores that connect with audiences, whether it’s for an animated feature, a TV show, or the theater. Music has been my lifelong passion, and I’m always excited to collaborate on new creative projects that bring stories to life through sound.

“The Frigate That Flies” is a sung by Tom Hiddleston for the Disney animated feature “Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy”, a popular film on Netflix and throughout the world. Gaby Alter composed the music and co-wrote the lyrics with Tony Award winner Itamar Moses, and provided the original arrangement.
A favorite of regional theaters, high schools and colleges, BAND GEEKS premiered at Goodspeed musicals and is licensed by Music Theatre International. It features the popular audition song “Lost In The Brass”, sung on the cast album by Lindsay Mendez, that has sold thousands of downloads on Musicnotes.com.
Plot: With just nine members and dwindling funds, the Cuyahoga High Marching Beavers are close to extinction. When a troubled athlete is relegated to their ranks, Elliott, the tuba-playing band captain and Laura, his best friend, must find a way to unite the band, embrace their inner geek and save the Marching Beavers.
Itamar Moses (Tony Award winner, The Band’s Visit) and Gaby Alter (Jonathan Larson Grant recipient) provide an uproarious book, witty lyrics, and a winsome pop score in this madcap musical comedy helmed by Tony Award winner and A.C.T. Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon.
Plot: “Nobody Loves You” is a wildly popular reality dating show in which eager contestants compete for love (and social media stardom). When Jeff, a philosophy grad student, snags a spot on the show to win back his ex, he breaks all the rules and tries to blow the game wide open. That is, until he falls for Jenny, an enticingly prickly “Nobody Loves You” producer who yearns to make Serious Films. In a world where every kiss comes at the end of a selfie stick, can two people really connect?
