Dr. Gerdi Papa is an Albanian architect, educator, and researcher specializing in computational design, digital fabrication, and architectural innovation. He currently serves as Head of the Department of Creative Industries at Barleti University, Tirana, where he oversees academic programs in Architecture, Interior & Product Design, and Multimedia Design. With a PhD in Architecture and Urban Design, Professor Papa’s work bridges design theory, digital technology, and material experimentation. His academic leadership focuses on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between architecture, design, and emerging creative technologies. Through Barleti’s Creative MakerSpace, Multimedia Lab, and Arkilab, he has established an ecosystem where students and professionals explore parametric design, VR environments, and 3D-printed craft as new tools for cultural and industrial innovation. Professor Papa’s research and teaching emphasize how craft, computation, and context intersect in the making of contemporary architecture and design. His lectures—such as “Pixel to Panel: Crafting Architectural Facades” and “Iconic Designs and Materials”—combine theoretical depth with hands-on experimentation. Beyond academia, Gerdi is the founder of a 3D-printing design studio where digital craft meets artistic form. His work includes collections of 3D-printed objects, lighting systems, and city-inspired art pieces, merging architecture, storytelling, and product design. As a designer and academic leader, he advocates for a new generation of creatives who think computationally, act sustainably, and design culturally—balancing technological precision with human narrative.
