Holly Vigil is a freelance illustrator based in Los Angeles, California. In 2022, she received her BFA with an emphasis in illustration from California State University, Fullerton. Vigil utilizes traditional mediums, including but not limited to colored pencil, mixed media, and digital art with a conceptual nature. After learning watercolor painting, she adopted it as her primary medium and attributes most of her artistic growth to understanding the fundamentals. Along with her studio work, Vigil has worked as a promotional artist for the independent animation production company Boldbird Studios and as an illustration intern for the news and culture website Halloween Every Night. She is an associate member of the National Watercolor Society and an initiate member of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. Her art has also been published in the DCA: LGBT Heritage Month Calendar and Cultural Guide and featured in the 2025 National Watercolor Society Member Exhibition. Vigil’s artistic expansion into watercolor cultivated her expressive, editorial, and surreal style embodied with saturated colors, elaborate figures, and textured feathers. Utilizing watercolor, Vigil creates her paintings using conventional illustration practices for surrealistic components and dreamlike details. She explores the improvisational aspects of the creative process for both her professional and individual works to invoke a whimsical depiction of the natural world.
