    About the brand

    Riverside Cafe & Lodge is a boutique countryside café and lodge nestled along the riverbanks of Alexandra, Central Otago. Serving locally roasted coffee, homemade seasonal food, and a welcoming lodge experience for travellers, cyclists, and locals alike, the goal of this rebrand was to create a timeless identity that feels handcrafted, warm, and deeply rooted in nature and community.

    The primary logo centres on a hand-drawn lodge window illustration encircled by the tagline “Stay Slow, Sip Slowly”. A line that doubles as a philosophy and an invitation. The window was chosen deliberately over a conventional café symbol as it suggests warmth from the inside looking out, and comfort from the outside looking in. It communicates rest, hospitality, and a sense of place without relying on a coffee cup or leaf symbols too generic to carry meaning.

    Every colour in this palette was pulled directly from the landscape surrounding Alexandra. The greens of the riverbank, the warmth of sunbaked earth, the dust of gravel paths, the dark of aged timber, and the pale light of early morning :)

    This is a passion project for an architecture studio’s website showcasing their projects, their story, and about their team. This design was wireframed in Figma and then developed in Framer, a website that is purposely designed to help increase the brand’s client outreach. This design is easy to navigate, prioritising user experience while maintaining a high visual appearance, with its monochromatic colour palette and an accent colour blue that expresses professionalism without losing personality and artistic style of the brand.
