Hi, I’m Jacob Aviner—a guitarist, singer, composer, producer, and educator based in the NYC area. I specialize in collaborative music creation, original music and scores for clients of all kinds including theatre, circus, and live performance, as well as band leadership, and teaching across genres. I’ve written and produced music for Off-Broadway shows, touring productions, and innovative live performances, while building a diverse practice that includes coaching, arranging, and sound design for stage and screen.
I’ve worked with ensembles and productions across the Northeast, teaching at Brooklyn Music School and NYU Steinhardt, and freelancing as a performer and collaborator in jazz, rock, and singer-songwriter contexts. I’m currently available for performance and teaching in the NYC tristate region and am always eager to connect with new collaborators on inventive projects.

The brief for this was to create a sound-alike of the song Casualty by Lawrence, with an emphasis in maintaining the energy and rhythms. They needed the song to be extended as well, so I re-arranged the song to include some repeats of sections and freshened up the instrumentals to carry energy through the new length. I re-arranged the horns for my existing session musicians, and produced and sang the cover. This is an example of work I am very comfortable with, and have done a ton of.
This is Amber Louis’s debut album, Lips & Teeth. I produced, engineered, and mixed the full album. I wrote the arrangements and performed almost all of the music as well.
This record by Jan Esbra, Keep Moving Forward, is one of my favorite examples of a collaboration. I produced and engineered the whole EP from my studio, Smite Club. I also produced his vocals and coached him through the singing of the record, as well as sang some of the harmonies.
This is my personal project — I wrote, arranged, produced, and mixed the entire project. Recording was done at the Creamery Studio in NYC.
I wrote, arranged, produced, and mixed a soundtrack for a touring live circus production. I worked closely with the director and the circus artists to create music that not only supported but augmented their performances, highlighting emotional cues, and leaving the audience excited and engaged.
It includes electronic production, vocal production, arranging for live horn sections, guitar work, and mixing.
