I always knew my career would have to do with sound. Growing up, I would constantly beg my parents to let me play the drums. I was a fidgety kid who loved to tap on everything, and the drums were so cool to me. It was the first time I wanted something that bad, and eventually my persistence paid off. My parents caved and got me lessons when I was nine, and my journey began. Though at first, I wasn’t quite sure what exactly I wanted to do. At first I thought I’d be a music teacher, then a music therapist, or a composer, and so on. Each had their appeals, but none fully captivated me. Then one day in high school I saw a video about music production and audio engineering, and I knew immediately that was it. I’ve been hooked ever since. This career allows me to work with so many amazing and talented people and lets me use my technical knowledge to be even more creative. There’s also always something new to learn, something new to make me even better at my craft. Currently I’m a student at Berklee and a student employee AV assistant. I’m recording, mixing, and mastering all sorts of projects, from rock albums to full orchestras. As an AV assistant, my job is to mix sound for large ensemble rehearsals and to make sure all of the sound systems throughout campus are working properly. No matter what job I'm doing though, I'm connecting with the people I'm working for and making sure I truly understand what they want so that I can use my technical skills to achieve it. My love for my career is mainly in the people. It’s still amazing to me that my job is essentially to hang out with people that make me laugh, and listen to music that makes me feel.
