    paper M+ Museum

Gammon Construction served as the Management Contractor for the M+ Museum in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District.
The company was appointed in September 2018 by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority to oversee construction completion after superstructure work had begun in 2015. They managed key elements including the 14-storey M+ Building with its podium and basement, a nine-storey Conservation and Storage Facility, a two-storey carpark, and a 16-storey Retail, Dining and Entertainment Building.
    Key Challenges
Gammon navigated building over active MTR Airport Express and Tung Chung Line tunnels, requiring precise tolerances to avoid disruptions, drawing on prior experience from the nearby Lyric Theatre Complex. The team also addressed COVID-19 supply delays and integrated advanced fire suppression like long-throw sprinklers and Novec 1230 gas to protect artworks.
    Technologies Used
Advanced tools such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), 3D Scanning, RFID, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), drones, IoT sensors, and Augmented Reality supported efficient delivery of complex features like the terracotta-tiled facade and giant LED screen.
    Additional Works
Gammon handled the design and build of the Artist Square Bridge, a 73-meter arch structure connecting to the museum via push-launching assembly for safe integration amid traffic and utilities. The M+ Museum opened to the public in late 2021.
