Hi, I’m Jay Gearing—a filmmaker and designer based in Peterborough. I began making films in my spare time and eventually built Red 7 Productions into a studio focused on socially responsible documentary work, dance videos, event coverage, and promotional content. I’m hands-on with every project, handling filming, interviewing, editing, color grading, sound and lighting to tell compelling stories that matter. My work has earned national and international recognition, and I’ve collaborated with clients such as the RHS, The Woodland Trust, The British Council and universities across the UK. Earlier in my career I co-founded Paper Rhino, a socially responsible graphic design collective, building print design for charities, NGOs and smaller businesses and securing funding to offer free design and advice to charities. We worked with The RHS, The Woodland Trust, the NHS and Co-ops UK, among others. My background also includes a formal stint as a Digital Image Manager at the RHS, and a long-running career in design and production. I’ve travelled in Japan and India, and my outdoorsy life now includes trips across the UK and Europe with my partner and two young children in a camper van we rebuilt together.
