While working for August, a rental app used by landlords and tenants, I designed a series of long form animated videos and payed digital advertisements. My role was to bring the vision to life through dynamic animations, seamless transitions, and impactful visuals that complemented the messaging and tone of the script. I worked closely with the client to ensure the animation aligned with the brand’s identity while keeping the viewer engaged and highlighting key product features.
I worked with Stobbs on a bold and unconventional animation campaign for Meet On The Fence LLP — a completely fictitious (and brilliantly subversive) legal brand created to satirise the outdated, overpriced world of traditional IP services. My role focused on bringing the visual identity to life through motion; using After Effects, I animated graffiti-style overlays to enhance the disruptive tone of the brand and inject an energetic, rebellious feel. The campaign included three paid digital ads for the US market, followed by 24 UK digital billboard placements in high-profile London locations including Mayfair, Bond Street and Clapham.
From a technical perspective, this project really showcased my ability to combine hand-drawn assets with dynamic motion workflows. I built a library of custom graffiti graphics and frame-by-frame marks, bringing them into After Effects to animate using a combination of masks, motion paths and displacement techniques for a raw, authentic feel. I also layered subtle sound design — including spray-can audio and street ambience — to enhance the energy of the ads and reinforce the disruptive tone of the campaign. The final animations (as shown in the attached asset) blended seamlessly with the core brand visuals and helped elevate the satirical concept into something that felt genuinely alive and attention-grabbing.
