I'm Julian Grant, a narrative designer, director, and cross-media storyteller with 30+ years of experience crafting emotionally resonant content across film, animation, interactive media, literature, and music. I’ve led the creation of 35+ published interactive fiction titles featuring sophisticated procedural narrative systems, including oracle-based engines generating 8,000+ unique scenarios. I’ve designed system-agnostic frameworks such as Ironwood and Rosso Profondo, and I steward Magick Shadows as a six-game series spanning four decades of narrative continuity. My work blends atmospheric horror, noir, and speculative fiction to create immersive experiences across multiple platforms. I am currently seeking representation for Hearthorne and Empty Chairs, two Gothic novellas, and I continue to publish YA fiction, murder memoirs, and a graphic novel, History of Her Future. In addition to writing and directing, I produce atmospheric soundtracks and sound design. My teaching career includes 15+ original courses at Columbia College Chicago from 2008 to 2023 and online courses at Sam Houston State University in 2024-2025. My short fiction has appeared in 25+ journals, and my work has earned multiple awards for directing and visual storytelling. I welcome collaborations that blend narrative design, film, and interactive media.
