I created this custom typography for the visual identity of the 2019 Milwaukee AIGA Membership Party. Riffing off of the word "tribe," I was inspired by artists I discovered like Isidore Isou and João Rodrigues Vieira whose letterform paintings embraced a primal energy and a rudimentary approach to form that resonated with the concept of "tribal." RAIN - Branding, Logo
RAIN (Reforestation and Agroforestry Impact Network) is an organization that "empowers people in love with their local environments to bring back life to the landscape. (RAIN'S) projects support a wave of interest in agroecology that is swelling in Brazil, and the impacts ripple outwards."
I worked with RAIN on a couple of projects, one of them being a rebranding of their organization to more effectively reflect its role as a champion for agroforestry and reforestation. This organization is a local branch within a regional network seeking to build community through interests like independent media, community gardening, and alternative education. I initially created this logo for their Telegram channel, and then extended it to other applications. "Grafís" is a personal brand for a line of "journals and sketchbooks for artists" I created. I wanted the visual identity itself to feel as if it had been around for a while, to convey a sense of tradition and trustworthiness. For the blank book of music manuscript paper, I adopted an ornate and intricate aesthetic to connote creativity and elegance.
