I’m João Pádua, a photographer based in Porto, Portugal. I’ve been behind the lens since 2001 and have been freelancing since 2006. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography from ESAP, and my work spans weddings, portraits, photojournalism, and corporate assignments. I aim to bring an artistic touch to every project and strive to deliver outstanding results for my clients.
I love telling stories through images, whether it’s a wedding, a travel assignment, or a personal project. I enjoy collaborating with clients, staying curious, and continually exploring new approaches in photography, post-production, and album design.

“India was the first country outside the European continent that João Pádua visited. ‘It was a shock,’ writes the 37-year-old freelance photographer, author of this series of black and white images. In this first non-European foray, João experienced a kind of ‘super-voltage in the senses and perception.’ It was, he jokes, like ‘visiting a strange, yet familiar planet, where they also sell Imodium.’ During the trip, he felt ‘hypnotically obscured by overstimulation’: the days went by and João began to feel ‘changes within.’ He staggered ‘between images and mirages,’ to his eyes everything seemed ‘to scream for attention and reflection.’ The difficulty was discerning ‘beyond the chain of novelty’.”
