His recent 2026 short film, Naya Kanoon, is a bold and highly original social allegory set in urban Delhi. The story follows a modern couple whose emotionally distant relationship is disrupted by a disturbing new law that criminalizes food waste—and even acts of compassion. As their kitchen is sealed and hunger takes over, what begins as an inconvenience transforms into a deeply personal and moral crisis, forcing them to confront their values, their relationship, and their humanity. Built on a unique and socially relevant concept, Naya Kanoon explores the fragile line between regulation and dehumanization. The film is currently being submitted to multiple international film festivals. In this project, Junaid Imam Shaikh serves as the Story Writer, Screenplay Writer, Director, and Co-Producer, bringing his signature blend of emotional depth and cinematic storytelling to the forefront.
