Jeff Vanderkruik is a big, gay, blond guy from Boston with a twin sister who is a doctor, smarter than him, and far more successful and he would prefer not to talk about her any further.
He began his career in the NBC Page Program on November 5, 2007 - the first day of the writers’ strike - but eventually found his way to Saturday Night Live, where he worked for three years. He then ventured west, writing for Emily Spivey on Up All Night, followed by John Mulaney’s sitcom Mulaney, where Jeff wrote his first produced episode. He went on to work with Pam Brady and Mitch Hurwitz on Lady Dynamite, and later joined The Last Man on Earth, writing an episode in its third season.
Jeff was subsequently staffed on NBC’s A.P. Bio, where he co-wrote the season finale. Most recently, he served as a contributing writer on Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis and wrote a pilot script (working title: Nonterouge) starring Mel Rodriguez and Nick Antonyan.
His latest spec script, My Buddy Brian, is based on Jeff’s first time falling in love just after turning 40 - how spectacularly wrong it went, and how incredibly right it felt. He also wrote a horror feature currently in pre-production, Rager, about a house party set in a real-life murder house in Los Feliz, and is working on a Christmas feature, Vixen, centered on one of Santa’s lesser-known reindeer from the wrong side of the tracks.
Jeff is 6’6" and loves dogs.
