I’m Rahma Omar, a costume designer and fashion engineer specialising in kinetic costume engineering, sustainable design, and theatrical and cinematic storytelling. I create wearable designs that do more than dress a character—they transform, reveal narrative, and support live performance. My work includes rapid-change costumes, mechanical garment systems, historical costume design, commercial styling, and handcrafted visual development for stage and screen. I was honoured with the Best Costume Design Award at the National Theater Festival for my kinetic transformation gown project, Marilyn. I enjoy bringing ambitious creative ideas to life through resourceful making, digital craftsmanship, and thoughtful material choices. Alongside my professional practice and postgraduate research into kinetic costumes and sustainable illusion, I teach fashion illustration, styling, creative development, and upcycling to adults and young people. Through Dégars, I explore how discarded materials can become distinctive artistic garments while mentoring emerging designers from concept through technical execution.…
