I report on and research local alternative music scenes and how they are culturally, socially and emotionally beneficial for participants. I am a gigging bass guitarist in Washington, DC, performing both on American University's campus and in the wider scene. I specialize in jazz and also play rock, alt/indie, and pop. Beyond performing, I manage my own contracts and network across venues, giving me inside knowledge of the music business.
