I report on and research local alternative music scenes and how they are culturally, socially and emotionally beneficial for participants. I am a gigging bass guitarist in Washington, DC, performing both on American University's campus and in the wider scene. I specialize in jazz and also play rock, alt/indie, and pop. Beyond performing, I manage my own contracts and network across venues, giving me inside knowledge of the music business. My work as both a reporter and a musician is aimed at promoting the vital cultural community surrounding music, and I strive to bring that experience to my audience through interviews, articles, and live performances.
