Khosrow, Shirin, Farhad is a modern visual retelling of one of Persian literature’s greatest masterpieces, originally composed by Nezami Ganjavi in the 12th century. This tragic love triangle between the Sasanian king Khosrow Parviz, the Armenian princess Shirin, and the gifted sculptor Farhad is brought to life in twelve illustrated scenes.
The artwork, created in pencil and later digitized with text, departs from traditional Persian miniature styles to present realistic, cinematic characters and settings. Costumes, objects, and environments are carefully researched from historical sources and museum collections. The result is a hybrid form—part narrative, part illustration—that resembles comics in structure yet retains the depth and gravity of classical storytelling.
