Léa (she/her) is an award-winning French-Brazilian filmmaker and producer based in Scotland. She has created projects across the UK, Brazil, Turkey, Scandinavia, Europe, and South Korea. After studying at La Sorbonne, she continued her education at Edinburgh College of Art, where she completed her Master’s in Film. This led her to co-direct the animated documentary I Don’t Want to Call It Home through the Bridging the Gap scheme. The film, which tells the story of forced migration and the meaning of home, premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and went on to screen at festivals including Dinard Film Festival and Cucalorus. In 2019, her BBC documentary Spit It Out led her to co-found the community organisation of the same name. She was awarded the EVOC Young-CEOs bursary and named one of Young Women Scot’s “30 Women Before 30” in 2022. In 2024, she joined the Creativity Pioneers Leadership Forum, led by the Moleskine Foundation. Léa’s recent directorial work includes the award-winning documentaries What It Means to Be, on trans* activism, and À la Folie, exploring the lack of support for carers in France. Most recently, she produced the BAFTA-nominated Friends on the Outside by Annabel Moodie through her production company, Unlabelled Films. She is currently producing a new slate of documentaries, as well as her first drama, Bubbles by Jagoda Tłok, as one of the producers selected for the 2025 cohort of the NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab.
