I am a South African animator, digital artist and director whose work is shaped by my Xhosa cultural identity, imagination and sense of humour. I founded my own independent animation studio, Sadcake Studios, to create bold and imaginative worlds that merge music, storytelling and visual art to explore themes of identity, power, community and belonging.I’m also deeply passionate about telling alternative South African stories that confront themes of human nature as well as drawing inspiration from Southern African mythology, spirituality and contemporary South African culture, using animation as a tool to reimagine Southern Africa through fascinating characters and layered narratives. This curiosity around South African mythology and spirituality is reflected in my original project, Shadows Against Stone, an adult animated series inspired by Southern African mythology and ecology.
