I’m Katie Manzer, a York University Master’s graduate in Cinema and Media Studies with a focus on children’s media, disability, and media ethics. My work centers on how screen-based storytelling can better resonate with neurodiverse child audiences—using research and media practice to think through what “intended viewership” really means and how it should be designed.
Alongside my research, I bring creative and production experience across writing, teaching support, and visual storytelling. I’ve worked as a staff writer and comic artist, supported film instruction as a teaching assistant, and contributed to children’s TV development through script coordination, storyboard work, and animation/animatics. I’m also an actively making artist—directing and editing hybrid short-form work and building story pitches and proofs of concept that turn scholarship into approachable, audience-aware media.
