Maria Anolfo is an actress and playwright. She trained between Italy and Berlin, where she studied physical theatre and performing arts at Theaterhaus Berlin Mitte, and later graduated from the Carlo Goldoni Academy (Teatro Stabile del Veneto – National Theatre), obtaining a Level IV EU acting certification.
Within institutional theatre, she has worked in several productions of Teatro Stabile del Veneto, including Turandot directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Falene, and Le regole dell’adolescenza, collaborating with directors such as Giorgio Sangati and Lorenzo Maragoni. Alongside this work, she has developed a strong interest in contemporary playwriting and independent theatre.
In 2023, she debuted with Zitto, Peter! A sitcom about the nausea of being born, which premiered at the Primavera dei Teatri, was a finalist for the Premio Dante Cappelletti, and won the Humus grant from Teatro Linguaggi Creativi in Milan. She has since taken part in several new writing projects, including Ossitocina and Cuccioli by Elena Stauffer, and Insultati. Bielorussia by Andrei Kureycik. Ossitocina won the Beyond Zeta call by Spk Teatro and was a finalist at MarteLive 2024.
Alongside her stage work, she is active in television and audiovisual projects. In 2023 she starred in the series Alter Ego, directed by Erik Bernasconi and Robert Ralston, and in 2025 she joined the cast of The Saints, directed by Martin Scorsese.
Her artistic research is supported by ongoing training in acting and dramaturgy with artists including Frosini/Timpano, Attilio Scarpellini, Fabio Condemi, Monica Capuani, and Silvio Peroni. She integrates physical practices such as biomechanics, stage combat, contemporary dance, and yoga, with a strong focus on embodiment and stage presence.
