I am María José Alcócer, a composer and sound designer rooted in cinematic soundscapes, driven by the obsession to create audio-visual media and to influence how thoughts, ideas, and emotions are shared with audiences.
I collaborate across post-production, orchestration, and music direction, bringing a conscious listening approach, immersive sonic experiences, and sensory connections through music and sound to every project.

Adam lives a miserable life full of suffering, but finds a unique escape to happiness in Pes’s illusions.
In the Upper Napo region of the Ecuadorian Amazon, Napuruna midwives celebrate Kicnana to renew their energy after assisting in a birth. Mama Antonia leads this ceremony and teaches that the water from the Pitón River purifies the blood. Through stories, she conveys how midwifery is passed down from generation to generation. By drinking the water, the midwives regenerate their health and strengthen their Pajuyuk, their ancestral wisdom. This practice keeps them spiritually connected to the rainforest.
Andean Bear: The Conflict Over Territory is a cinematic journey through the Andean highlands and cloud forest, where the life of the Andean bear, South America’s only native bear, is threatened by the relentless advance of humankind.
This documentary portrays the conflict between nature and development, an age-old conflict, a symbol of our era, through a multitude of voices that immerse us in the complex coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Marc, a young man caught between work responsibilities and nostalgia for summers past, returns to his family’s coastal apartment to face an unusual and seemingly solitary summer. What is “Summer” without all that defines it?
It explores the complexity of human relationships after being fragmented due to migration. Through the short film, the aim is to show the perspective of those who stay behind. Additionally, the short film seeks to explore the definition of motherhood, as in cases of migration, often grandparents, uncles, or other relatives are left in charge of raising the children. This separation generates both emotional and physical fragmentation. Being “uprooted” from the land where one is born implies a certain bravery and a conviction that anything outside is better than what one already has.
