Hello! I'm Mario Mercurio Martínez, a freelance animator, illustrator and designer based in Gijón, Asturias. I collaborate with studios such as Sultana Films, Acantilado Films, MyLideas, Monognomo Produccion and Lionsgate, taking on roles like storyboarder/animator, prop maker/decorator, sculptor and 2D animator/motion grapher. I love bringing stories to life through expressive characters, dynamic sequences and crafted props. I've pursued formal training in Advanced 2D Animation (Lightbox Academy, 2025-2026) and sculpture (Oviedo Art School, 2020-2022), plus art edition (Oviedo Art School, 2012-2015) and engraving and printing techniques (Oviedo Art School, 2009-2012). I’ve studied at Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Liège and Escola Superior Artística do Porto as part of my artistic education. My work has been recognized with several awards and internships, including LABjoven Los Bragales, the Pancho Cossío Video Award, and the Ciutat de Cornellá comics contest, and I’m open to new projects as a freelancer or full-time.
