I am Herve Martiak, a documentary photographer and visual storyteller based in Burundi, with roots tracing back to DRC. My journey into photography started within my own family growing up surrounded by uncles who were photographers, I spent my early years helping in a small photo studio in Bwiza. In 2018, I began assisting in event photography, which later inspired my shift toward more meaningful visual storytelling. In 2021, I discovered my passion for photojournalism and documentary photography. That same year, I launched the "Kinama Stories Project", a long-term visual series documenting everyday life in the Kinama neighborhood. Through my lens, I aim to spotlight social issues, amplify underrepresented voices, and reflect the dignity and resilience of ordinary people.
