My name is Melanie Giselle- I'm a Uruguayan-American vocalist and musician based in Manhattan, NYC since 2015. I graduated from The City College of New York in 2022 and have a B. Mus. in Jazz Vocal Performance, and I've been performing ever since! Venues I've performed at as a vocalist and band leader in NYC include Ornithology Jazz Club, Cafe Ornithology, Only Love Strangers, The Ivy Room, Melody's Piano Bar, the Ned Nomad, Vue 180, Canary Club, Hermana NYC, Club Groove, as well as the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Some weekly residencies I have are at a speakeasy downtown called Coby Club, where I sing jazz standards every Tuesday evening, as well as Osteria Carlina every Sunday evening where I also sing jazz and bossa nova. Besides singing jazz standards, bossa nova, latin and pop in a band format, I am a Sofar Sounds Artist and perform my original music at their pop-up shows regularly. At these shows, I also sing and play guitar solo! In Summer of 2024, I had a month-long residency at the historic Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, where I sang jazz classics and pop tunes every night in their Terrace Room, where guests can dance along. I also had the opportunity to perform jazz standards with their resident rag-time pianist. My current repertoire consists of traditional jazz standards, Spanish/Latin American boleros, tangos and bossa nova, but combined with elements of storytelling- bringing in a unique interpretation of poetry and lyrics through songs that speak so deeply to me. I recently released a single of my own lyrics to a bossa nova/jazz classic "How Insensitive", where I re-wrote the original Portuguese lyrics to Spanish.
