Mickey May-Wright

Spearheaded the digitization efforts of the Gilberto Cárdenas & Dolores Garcia Collection of Latinx Art, cataloging and caring for over 8,000 objects using our collection management system (TMS). Photographed, documented, conditioned, and acted as artwork handler for fine art, from works on paper to sculptures. Worked with the museum’s Latinx Art Curator to prepare and install 5 new exhibition rotations to show highlights of the new collection. Redesigned the Collections Department’s approach to its archive, employing archival best practices and rehoming important objects related to fine art in the museum's permanent collection.

Provided reference services to elected Texas officials, their staff, state agencies, and the general public. Conducted in-depth research on legal, legislative and historical topics using primary and secondary sources. Reviewed journals and electronic information services for ongoing current awareness and collection development activities.

Processed 50 linear feet of photographic material for the Patricia Caulfield Photographic Archive and other objects reflecting Caulfield's work as a photojournalist and environmental photographer. Assisted in day-to-day activities of the Photographic Archive, including preparing finding aids using EAD and Archival Space, answering reference requests, and developing educational resources such as subject guides for the collections. Contributed articles for the institute's newsletter about collections and photographed key items.
