Drawing from a lifetime of performance on euphonium, tuba, and every odd instrument within reach, Matthew creates scores that blend orchestral color, electronic texture, and wry humor to tell stories that feel both epic and deeply human. A former member of Pittsburgh’s River City Brass, where he performed as a featured soloist hundreds of times, Matthew has built a career spanning concert halls, recording studios, and digital media. His compositions and arrangements have been performed across the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia. As a producer and recording artist, his albums Everyone But Me, Reminiscence, and Songs for One and More showcase his ability to layer acoustic and digital sound design into vivid, character-driven musical experiences. His award-winning works often merge traditional brass writing with modern cinematic scoring techniques—lush themes, driving rhythms, and textures that move fluidly between humor and heart. Matthew currently teaches euphonium and tuba at Ithaca College and composes for film, television, and video games from his studio in Syracuse, New York.
