Hi, my name is Murat. I’m a composer, sound engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based between NYC and Istanbul. I’ve played music my whole life. I studied bass at Juilliard Pre-College, then went on to study Computer Science and Music at Columbia, where I received the Douglass Moore Award and the Charles Miller Award in composition. My work spans chamber music, film, ballet, modular synthesis, electronic sound design, and immersive soundscapes. I’ve performed throughout New York City at venues like Pianos, Mercury Lounge, and Berlin Under A, and I have played internationally. I perform both as a solo artist and as the bassist for The Fleok. I’ve collaborated with ensembles and organizations including PinkNoise, W4RP Trio, Yarn/Wire, the King’s Crown Shakespeare Troupe, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, and more. Right now I’m focused on ambient works and soundtracks—blending modular synthesis with live instrumentation to build expansive sonic environments. You can find some of my music at muratgulcelik.com.
