I’m Nick Lear, an award-winning British film editor with credits spanning 19 years across broadcast, documentary, commercials and promos. I’ve edited for Sky, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, E4, Channel 5, the Olympic Channel and Discovery, delivering consistently high-quality work. I’ve had the privilege to edit for directors such as Joe Cornish, David Darg and Edgar Wright, and I’ve earned two D&AD pencils. I also founded and oversee a non-profit Cape Town-based film school.
I work across long-form documentaries and fast-paced promos, using Avid, DaVinci Resolve and the Adobe suite to craft stories that resonate. I’m passionate about sharing knowledge and mentoring the next generation of filmmakers, and I keep a hands-on studio setup to stay at the cutting edge of post-production. In addition to my editing work, I’ve contributed to educational projects and industry showcases around the world, including Cannes.
