I love composing for film, TV and visuals - I'm a full-time musician; a performer, recording engineer, producer and mixing engineer who has a particular love and skill in composition for film and TV. I'm from Brisbane, Australia, and I love receiving projects from all over the place and delivering great results. I have 20 years of experience in composing, recording, performing, mixing, editing, both solo and in bands, and also extensive session musician work. I have toured nationally and worldwide in various bands and have been involved in music production for a large and varied catalogue of music. This is all backed up by a Bachelor of Music and 15 years experience teaching secondary classroom music. What I love about composing for film and TV is being inspired by visuals to let an audience know how they should be thinking or feeling without them even realising this is happening. I have in-depth knowledge of conventions of film music and I know what timbres, textures, intervals, melodies, harmonies and rhythmic elements can be used to create an emotive response from an audience. I have an impressive collection of vintage synths, electric pianos, esoteric guitars and effects pedals and I love to experiment with tones I can create from a physical and iconic instrument rather than software plugins (I do have software plugins as well but I prefer the real deal). I am a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist so I can create a full ensemble sound all by myself, and I particularly like experimenting with soundscapes. Employment and project experience: - Oliver Keys Music: 2021-present Live performer specialising in one-man-band innovative live looping - utilising beatboxing, guitar percussion, acoustic guitar with effects and keyboard to create a full band sound live in front of your eyes. I have performed at luxury resorts, weddings, functions and various live music venues around Australia. - Wildflowers: 2020-present Keyboard player for a Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Rondstadt Trio tribute band that has performed in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. - Recording, composing and production: 2007-present Various projects including my own solo albums, recording, performing and producing for other artists, session recording projects both in my home studio and in hired spaces, short films, backing music for visuals. - Secondary school teaching: 2006-2021. Classroom music teaching involving the elements of music, composing (I particularly enjoyed teaching units around composing for film), performance, theory, music technology and innovation.
