For the last year, I’ve been working as a solo Senior Product Designer at an AI startup for grocery retailers designing an assistant that helps people plan their grocery shopping. The product is integrated into several supermarkets across Europe, so I collaborate closely with product, engineering and business. When I joined, there was no real design system in place, just a few components in Figma, despite the product being planned for multiple integrations. I’m proud that I convinced both the CEO and CTO of the importance of building a proper design system. To bridge the gap between design and development, I closely collaborate with the tech team using vibecoding, which allows us to prototype and iterate at lightning speed. More than that, I created modes within the Design System (DS), allowing me to adapt the screen for different clients with just one click. What motivates me the most is not only building great products, but also helping teams grow and foster a positive work environment.
