Paul Lim is a Music Producer, Arranger, Composer, Songwriter and Recording Engineer specialising in Pop, Rock, and Contemporary Music Production. A graduate of Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Music & Audio Technology and currently pursuing a Music Composition degree at LASALLE College of the Arts.
He began his professional career at Kenn C Music, progressing from intern to production assistant, where he worked on productions involving artists such as Angela Zhang, Stefanie Sun, Kelly Yu, Jam Hsiao, Azora Chin, Olivia Ong, Bonnie Loo, and Shila Amzah. His work has included music arranging, production assistance, chart preparation for live musicians, and concert production support for major tours and live events.
As a songwriter, Paul is signed to HIM International Music and has written songs featured as television theme songs, while also achieving recognition through multiple songwriting competitions, including championship wins and placements in regional contests.
Paul’s strength lies in bridging the gap between songwriting and production. Rather than simply creating tracks, he focuses on developing arrangements that elevate the emotional impact of a song while remaining commercially relevant. The arrangement was crafted to preserve the emotional intensity of the original song while enhancing its impact and energy for a large-scale live concert setting.
Contributed to the arrangement and production of a live medley performance featuring 《被劫持的思念》, 《爱不由我》, and 《如果没有你》, connected through a specially designed introductory section. The project involved adapting multiple songs into a cohesive concert experience, ensuring smooth musical transitions, consistent emotional flow, and dynamic development throughout the performance.
The arrangement blended contemporary pop production with live band instrumentation, balancing the unique identity of each song while creating a unified musical narrative. Particular attention was given to pacing, orchestration, and transition design to enhance the audience’s live concert experience.
Contributed to the live arrangement and production of Stefanie Sun’s 《直来直往》Straight Forward for the Qingdao Music Festival. Responsibilities included recording backing vocals, assisting with production coordination, and supporting the preparation of musical materials for the live performance. The project involved adapting the song for a large-scale festival setting while maintaining the energy and character of the original recording.
Served as Arranger and Production Assistant for Angela Zhang’s live performance of 《遗失的美好》Lost of Beauty during her 2023 tour concert. Contributed to the development of the concert arrangement, recorded guitars for the production, and prepared musical charts for the live band. The arrangement was designed to enhance the emotional depth of the song while adapting it for a large-scale live concert environment, balancing the nostalgia of the original recording with the dynamics and impact of a live performance.
