uniE621 Carol by Patricia Highsmith, Comic Adaptation
For my final project in University, I chose to adapt the book 'Carol' by Patricia Highsmith and turn it into a comic. I pushed the boundaries of layout, opting to not use any harsh borders and instead use the floral motif. The intention of this was to reflect the dreamlike quality that inhabits the beginning of their relationship, with this unravelling as the story continues. This is one of the double page spreads that I completed. comic illustrator
    uniE621 Test Comic Page
Comic page for an independent project, establishing the main character and the universe in which she exists. Focus on clothing design, personality establishment, and layout. characterdesign comic
paper A Gut Feeling - Educational Comic
Working with The Quadram Institute (gut health specialists based in Norfolk) to educate and normalise the discussion of gut health, I created this mini-comic. I chose to write a romantic comedy, deliberately contrasting the taboo topic at hand and adding a light-hearted air to it. 'A Gut Feeling' follows the main character Arella as she prepares for her first date, but things take a turn for the worst when her IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) flares up due to the nerves. I designed the characters, wrote the script, illustrated and coloured the pages independently. comic illustrator
paper How Do We Live? community-led zine
'HDWL?' is a passion project that I created, starting with a callout for creatives to respond to a chosen prompt. Issue 1 is about 'Artificial Intelligence', documenting how artists and writers have responded to this advancement in technology. Issue 2 is currently in the works. I organised, designed, funded, printed and distributed this project. zine independentproject
