My name is Pilar and I'm an animator, filmmaker, and artist born and based in New York City. I primarily work freelance and contract as a 2D animator, animation director, and art director, but I've also worked in compositing, concept art, color scripting, and character design. Some of the clients and companies I've worked with include MTV, Adult Swim, Cartuna, Mighty Oak, Nearpod, Straight To Tell, Ado Ato Pictures, and Buck. Outside of more commercial work, I work on independent short film productions as an animator, animation director, art director, or pre-production artist, most recently Tshay Williams's film "Tell Me When You Get Home" as lead animator, which premiered at SXSW. Other films I've worked on include Carrie Hawks "Inner Wound Real", Tom CJ Brown's "Christopher at Sea", "Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire" a feature documentary that premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2024, and two films with Director Biamca Lambert, one produced through Straight to Tell in Atlanta called "Super High" and a newer one called "My Black is Cracking". I primarily animate in 2D and am most comfortable using Photoshop and Toonboom, but I am also proficient in Animate and TV Paint. Additionally, I have a setup for traditional animation and a downshooter if needed. As you can likely see from my reel and portfolio, I have done work in a variety of styles and am quite flexible when working with clients to get the look they want. My best strengths are that I'm very organized and fast with file delivery, am flexible with my art style, and am willing to learn and try new things. When I'm not working on client work, I make my own short films and stay at artist residencies as a fellow. I just finished my short film "Pajarito" through the help of a Jerome Hill production grant and the Djerassi Artist Residency. I'm also an adjunct professor at SVA in Manhattan. If you are interested in working together, I teach on Tuesdays but am generally available all other days.
