Engineered a dual-head multimodal deep learning system combining MobileNetV3 and DistilBERT to answer clinical questions about radiologic images, achieving 69.4% accuracy with 1.9x parameter reduction (70M vs 134M) and 1.04x faster inference while maintaining 93% of baseline performance on the VQA-RAD dataset. Implemented a medical-safe data augmentation pipeline and answer normalization framework, then deployed a production-ready Streamlit web application enabling real-time inference (< 20 ms) for 2,248 Q&A pairs.
