To oversee and manage the production budgets for the Facebook Watch contract and to provide additional support to the Newsroom PM working on C4 news long form commissions, OB requirements and special events. They will work closely with the Operations and Finance Manager and commissioning team as well as the management accountants to ensure delivery of contractual commitments in terms of production schedules and budget requirements and all contractual reporting needs.
Responsibilities

FINANCIAL:

  • Preparation of project budgets and schedules in accordance with editorial brief and contractual requirements
  • Invoice processing including coding and accurate management of incorporation into cost manager systems, forecasting costs to complete, providing monthly cost reports
  • Preparing monthly reports on the Facebook Watch budget

PRODUCTION ADMINISTRATION:

  • Engage production teams as required by the production in collaboration with the Commissioning and admin teams
  • Arrange pre-production meeting to establish editorial requirements, schedule, health and safety issues, risk assessment needs and any compliance or legal issues relevant to the production
  • Manage production and post production technical and personnel workflow requirements for each individual project
  • Planning personnel (both freelance and staff) and resource allocation, including management of working hours, sickness and absence, identifying freelance needs (production staff, crew, post production crew and in vision talent) and maintaining database/contact list of suitable personnel to fill roles on current and future productions, whilst understanding cost implications and HR working policies to ensure all staffing issues across the department are dealt with efficiently, effectively and consistently. Raising and issuing appropriate freelance personnel contracts and purchase orders in line with HMRC guidelines for personnel working within the organisation
  • Working with Media Manager and Digital project manager to organise all aspects of post-production for the team – including ingest, editing, managing storage requirements and quality assessment for all projects prior to delivery
  • Managing and preparing call sheets , risk assessments (in association with Producers) and insurance cover requirements as required against each project
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external suppliers (resources, kit, personnel) including management and negotiation of bulk discounts and best rate discussions
  • Book and manage internal and external resources, kit, staff and freelancers across all areas of production
  • Overview, management and prompt preparation of post production paperwork/legal reporting requirements including music cue sheets and release forms, copyright clearances, rights management and agency clearance and reporting
  • Cover for other Departmental Production Managers as and when required
  • Supporting the Department on extra projects as and when required
    Managing and scheduling of training in line with personnel requirements and budget

Qualifications

  • Hands-on Production Management skill with an undertstanding of digital platforms and specific digital production and delivery requirements as well as experience working in a more traditional newsgathering environment
  • Accurate financial, cost management, forecasting and reporting skills, including working with excel spreadsheets, combined with a keen awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
  • Excellent forward planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Extensive experience in identifying suitable freelancers to work across projects
  • Robust attitude to managing personnel and dealing with roster changes and project deadlines
  • Experience of workflow design and review, including working with a Media Manager to organise all technical aspects of production and post-production through to delivery for the department to include ingest, editing and long term storage
  • Thorough understanding of technical and personnel related production and post-production workflows
  • Experience of working with and managing risk assessments and insurance cover particularly in desingated hostile environments including added risk cover
  • Experienced in both UK and overseas filming requirements, carnet, travel and visa processes
  • Understanding of the current sanctions legislation and it’s implications
  • Highly computer literate
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and multi-task effectively
  • Able to work as part of individual teams and across the department, providing a cohesive presence
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Familiarity and understanding of HMRC’s Film Industry Guidelines in particular with regard to schedule D Status
