Who are you, and what do you do?

I am a visual artist working primarily through painting, video, installation and writing. My work explores the politics and potentialities of language – often focusing on the ways in which narratives are constructed, inherited, appropriated or transformed in the processes of world-making and cultural production.
My work has been exhibited in institutions and art spaces around Europe, in the USA and Canada. I have been awarded the Ars Viva Prize 2022/3 by the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft, based in Germany, which involves two major institutional exhibitions, for which I am producing a short film.

What’s the project, and what do you need from a freelancer?

I’m currently looking for a black male actor (aged 50+) to play the lead role of the film, primarily in English, or a mix of English and French.
MASTERS is a short film that explores the increasingly unclear power dynamics between student, professor, and institution.
Mr. Clarke, a once very well known black independent filmmaker and educator, is one day invited to work with a controversial new online learning platform, MASTERS. Things begin to unravel when the uncompromising demands of the super slick start-up - which is hellbent on destabilising and radically redefining education - force our protagonists to re-evaluate the way they think about knowledge, study, community and institutionality.

When do you need you project delivered?

4 to 5 days, ideally late July 2022, possibly early August.
