Job Summary

The Los Angeles Times is looking for an experienced sound designer and composer based in the United States to create original music for a narrative podcast series launching in April. This is a part-time, temporary assignment.

Job Description

We are seeking a collaborative musician who can create a theme song, an outro track and interstitial music to match different moods of the conversation. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience composing original music and be comfortable working within a larger production team, giving and taking feedback as necessary. The ability to work with deadlines and a willingness to work with the host and producers to find the right aesthetic are also essential. At least one round of revisions will be necessary to reach a product everyone is happy with.

Salary and Benefits

The pay scale for this position is $36.47 per hour to $50 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, and experience, along with the position requirements. The estimated salary for this position is $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits which can be viewed on our career site.
