Company Overview:

Factory International is the organisation behind Manchester International Festival (MIF) and the landmark new cultural space, Aviva Studios – helping to put Manchester on the map as a world-leading destination for art.

Programme Overview:

The Welcome is a programme of special events chosen by the people of Greater Manchester, taking place over nine days from 11th – 19th November 2023.

Role Overview:

Factory International is looking for a Freelance Producer/Programmer to bring their talents and passion for Street Culture to the delivery team of The Welcome, one of the signature programmes in the opening season of Aviva Studios, Factory International’s new year-round home.

Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to artists/groups/communities to scope out possibilities for the project
  • Build strong relationships with street culture communities across Greater Manchester
  • Develop a proposal for the event, including selection of artforms, acts and events and where in the Aviva Studios spaces they will occupy
  • Develop and deliver a project timeline for the event
  • Work with The Welcome Producer and Factory Assembly (our community Co-curators) to programme the project
  • Participation in regular meetings with both The Welcome delivery team and Factory Assembly to develop the project
  • Budget management (i.e. fees, production costs, staffing and venue costs)
  • Negotiations and contracting of the artists
  • Liaise with the Production Manager and the venue team
  • Oversee delivery of the live event between Thursday 16th - Saturday 18th November 2023

Requirements:

  • Someone passionate about all things Street Culture, with a real understanding of the importance and impact of these artforms in Greater Manchester
  • Strong connections to the Street Culture scene, and confidence in their ability to curate a dynamic programme of activity that appeals to a wide ranging audience
  • Experience in delivering events involving multiple artists and many moving parts
