Seeking a professional video editor for the indie documentary, Kept Promise (title pending), directed by Rina Hajra-Gjoka.

Rina’s Film Co. aims to create independent and socially impactful films.

Documentary Info:

Kept Promise traces Albania’s largely unknown role in saving Jewish lives during the Holocaust. The Albanians’ cultural adherence to hospitality and “Besa”, or one’s promise or oath, helped save thousands of individuals and families who would have otherwise perished during the Holocaust

Kept Promise’s structure is based on verbatim interviews of Albanian individuals whose families rescued Jewish families during WWII. The film was shot in various cities in Albania in September 2022.

Note: The interviews are mostly in the Albanian language. The director has already captioned the interviews with English subtitles.

High preference: Jacksonville, FL locals. Fluency in Albanian a big plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Edit and refine video footage and archival images to create a cohesive and engaging documentary that adheres to current video and audio industry guidelines.
• Assemble raw footage, selecting the most impactful shots to tell the story effectively.
• Ensure smooth transitions, pacing, and continuity throughout the documentary.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) and adeptness in color correction, audio enhancement, and other post-production techniques. Strong eye for framing, lighting, and composition.
• Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and documentary structure.
• Ability to closely work with the director towards the film’s vision.
