Job Summary

The Guarantee Sound Engineer is a key technical role within NEP UK’s Sound department. This position involves working on various NEP projects using fly-pack systems, UHD and HD outside broadcast trucks, and future-proofed IP capable trucks. The main responsibility is to deliver high-quality OB solutions to clients’ specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a Sound Guarantee on all types of OBs, demonstrating a strong understanding of sound operations.
• Have knowledge of the wider OB solution, including power requirements, air conditioning, and unit hydraulic operation.
• Guarantee small to mid-sized ad hoc outside broadcasts domestically and internationally.
• Collaborate closely with the Vision, VT, and Camera departments to achieve common project goals.
• Understand the key requirements of large contract OBs.
• Assist in delivering and refining Remote Production techniques and practices.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the current technologies deployed within NEP UK.
• Support Senior Broadcast Sound Engineers in the design, planning, and deployment of major projects worldwide.
• Conduct first-line fault-finding and repair of broadcast audio equipment during equipment failure, minimizing service disruptions.
• Interpret and implement instructions and requests from clients, producers, directors, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or scientific discipline, or
• Vocational qualification in a media technology field, or
• Strong evidence of suitable in-work learning, development, and deployment complemented with relevant practical and theoretical training.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Broadcast Engineer.
• Prior experience of guaranteeing HD/UHD trucks and fly-pack systems is advantageous.
• Comprehensive understanding of production practices and engineering workflows in outside broadcast.
• Good networking and IP infrastructure knowledge.
• Excellent fault-finding and practical skills.
